Scenes picturing the flag have been in vogue since September 11, often referred to as "The Spirit of America". However, Gottleib conceptualized this imagery long before September using the posters designed by James Montgomery Flagg as inspiration.

Navy has fielded a lacrosse team since 1908. A rich and fascinating history includes 17 national championships and over 330 All-Americans. Navy lacrosse history also includes yours truly as a wannabe national champion who played a few minutes on the varsity in 1969. Consequently, Navy Lacrosse has a special place in Gottleib's heart and on his drawing board.
